Headbands can make or break an overall look, and the most common reason for its existence is the simple functionality to hold back hair from your face or eyes, the second is to look your best by matching your outfit for the day.
History
The original headband concept was concocted no later than around 475 BC to 330BC in Ancient Greece in the form of wreaths, and oh boy, haven’t we come along way!
The Famous
Jimi Hendrix known to be most famous for wearing headbands may likely agree that headbands never really go out of fashion, and even better if you can make wearing headbands as easy and universal as possible.
The Future Now
Fast forward to the future, where now you can get a headband with wires in-built into it to accommodate to more people compared to the elastic headbands and normal standard headbands (that unfortunately limited the ability to standardised the best size to literally all head shapes and sizes).
Betty Boo Wired Headbands™ a New Age Design
With a Betty Boo Wired Headband™, you now can wrap and mould the band specific to your head shape and size, with full control of the tension (whether you prefer a loose-fit, snug-fit or tight-fit), and with only one band, you can do more than 3 different styles to suit your personality style and outfit such as the Rosette, Bowtie, and Twist & Tuck styles. It almost sounds like magic! But really the magic is in the unique headband design and measurements that gives its versatile features.
Solving Most Common Headband Issues
The most common issues people usually have wearing headbands, are those particularly with either a small shaped head, large flat shaped head, or thin fine hair (short and long). The headbands just don’t sit right or stay on at all, causing much more frustration and grief than expected. Even though finding the right elastic or normal headband is a continuing struggle, today many people can opt in to get themselves a wired headband to solve this stigmatic conundrum.
How to wear your Betty Boo Wired headband™ so they don’t slip off your head?
Below are recommended steps for both small and/or flat heads, and fine thin short or long hair.
Please note that these recommendations are only for the use of the Betty Boo Wired Headband™ brand as our design, fabrics, wires and measurements are uniquely made. These recommendations will not work for other wired headband brands.
Recommended Steps for Small and Flat Heads
1. Prepare your Hair.
Prepare your hair first before putting your band on. This will make it easier for you to know where you place your wired headband so that your hair is where you want it to be.
2. Fold your Wired Headband in Half.
The standardised width of the Betty Boo Headband™ is approx. 7.5-8cm, which is designed to be folded in half (approx. 3-4 cm wide) for those with smaller head shapes and to better fit and hold all day long. A full width headband may not hold onto your head because the size is too wide to properly hug the back of your head.
3. Position your band properly.
Position your band properly on base of your head, and over the back half of your ears for better hold to prevent from slipping off.
4. Getting the Tension Right for you.
Figure out your Preferred Tension whether you like a Slightly Loose-Fit, Snug-Fit, or Tight Fit. Remember the tension and tightness is dependable if you have a sensitive head or not, the tighter it is, the most likely for headaches because of the external head pressure.
5. Pick a Style and Position.
Pick a style you like to achieve whether it’s a Rosette, Bowtie or Twist and Tuck style. Decide whether you want it to be on the left, right or centre of your head. You can watch our quick how-to videos available on Tiktok, Youtube and Instagram if you are ever not sure how to execute your style, but remember the more you practice the better you become just like anything new you are learning.
6. Press the band against your head.
Press the band against your head to mould the wired headband to your head shape and lock it in all day. This is the most important step to ensure the wired headband is hugging your head shape. If you don’t do this step, your wired headband will slip off.
7. Tidy up any loose hair.
And the last step is to tidy up any loose hair that is not meant to be there with some light hair mousse or hair spray if that is what you prefer. How you tidy up depends if you are trying to achieve a nice sleek professional look or a messy-hair style look.
Recommended Steps for Thin Fine Hair (Short or Long)
1. Prepare your Hair to look Fuller & Volumized for best look.
For thin fine hair, the goal here is to prep your hair to look a bit more volumized before you put your wired headband on. This can be achieved by getting a light styling mousse or dry shampoo for thin fine hair, and using your fingers to tease the root of your hair, or you can also use a comb to tease the roots of your hair as well until you are happy with this. You can also choose to use a curling iron to give your hair some waves for a fuller look. Decide whether or not you prefer a fringe, if you do, you can also curl this part as well.
2. Choose either Full Width or Half Width.
Depending on your head shape and size, decide whether you need to fold your wired headband, the goal is to ensure a snug fit when you do put your wired headband on. This standardised width of the Betty Boo Headband™ is approx. 7.5-8cm, which is designed to be folded in half (approx. 3-4 cm wide) for those with smaller head shapes to better fit and hold all day long.
3. Position your wired headband properly.
5. Pick and Position your Style.
Pick a style you like to achieve whether it’s a Rosette, Bowtie or Twist and Tuck style, and decide whether you like it on the left, right or middle of your top head. You can watch our quick how-to videos available on Tiktok, Youtube and Instagram if you are unsure how to execute a style and remember if you are new to owning a wired headband like anything new it takes at least 20 hours to be competent at something new, so practice makes perfect.
6. Press the wired headband against your head.
Press the band against your head to mould the wired headband to your head shape and lock it in all day. This makes the biggest difference to ensure the band doesn’t slip, so make sure to not miss this step.
7. Tidy up any loose hair.
And the last step is to tidy up any loose hair that is not meant to be where you want it to be, whether that may be with some light hair mousse so that they sit there all day. How you tidy up depends if you are trying to achieve a nice sleek professional look or a messy-hair style look.
